One night my mom and dad were off to dinner for a date leaving me and my three other siblings at home. I was 12 at the time with my 15 year old brother, my 10 year old sister, and my 1 year old brother. I was watching cartoons with my little brother and sister while my brother was on the couch working on homework. It was around 6:30 when we hear a knock at the door. Me and my older brother peek through the window to see who it was. We look out and we see this couple standing out the door with a bag to the right side of them. My brother tells me to grab the knife and have it at the door if they try to pull anything on us. I grab the knife and the couple try to get in our house. I grab my little brother and all four of us go into the bathroom which was the only room in our house with a lock. As they are trying to come in I run out and grab my brothers bottle because he was a baby and my BB gun for protection. They try to grab me but I lose their grasp and I run and lock the bathroom door all 4 of us locked inside. Luckily I had my phone on me so I called the cops then my next door neighbor who was in the army came over to see all the noice. He sees the two with a knife in their hand and rope and duct tape. The police arrive on the scene and they take them away to be questioned. Later when my parents got home with a bunch of police cars at our house they knew something was up. We explain to them what happened and they are so scared and sorry for us. It was about and month later when we found out these people were trying to steal our stuff then try to kill is by hanging and stabbing us. I was so thankful we were alive but just the thought of what else could of happened always sends a chill down my spine.
