The Park

This happened to me when I was around 14 or 15, at that age I was extremely depressed at the time in dealing with parental abuse. Somehow when I was younger I ended up waking up so late at night, particularly around 3 – 4 AM. I decided one night to walk down to the closest park down a few blocks away from my house, I felt the breeze of cold air once I walked out the door. I made it to the park not to long after, walked down the very right corner of the park. I sat down against a brick wall (This park isn’t very big). I was listening to music with my headphones while noticing the stars in the sky and feeling somber. At some point in between that time I spent there I had my head down facing my knee’s and I heard this truck driving towards the parking lot of the park about a 700 hundred feet ahead of me. The car proceeded to park on one of the parking spots. I noticed it was 2 seated Toyota truck. The truck parked in angle that was in the direction of my view facing at me. The car had its headlights on for a short moment. The car’s headlights stayed on for about 5 minutes with no one coming out, It seemed as though I was being watched at a distance. I didn’t quite feel threatened exactly but yet surprised on why someone would be parking there at that time. The car engine suddenly shut down and from that far I couldn’t see anybody inside, it was completely pitch black as far as I remember. What also got under my skin is that no one was around, it was completely silent, no car’s driving near by or anything. The door opened on the driver’s side of the car and a man’s figure stood on the street for a good minute, all I could see was a black silhouette of this guy. This seemed like a strange behavior to me so my heart began to feel heavy. Almost immediately this man started running, no sprinting at me as fast as he could. I became completely alarmed and with myself back against a wall nowhere to run besides where this man is heading towards me so I freaked out and knew I had to think fast! I turned around and took the chance to jump over the brick wall, I didn’t think I would be tall enough to reach it but I actually got my hands to grip the top to pull myself up. I heard his foot step’s thud against the grass, getting closer and closer, I even thought he would have grabbed my foot before I got up. Once I got up, there was a steep hill so far down I felt I could potentially get injured due to the bumps and rocks that could potentially impair my balance but at the moment I didn’t think about that. I just ran down that hill as fast as I could and sprinted my way back to my house, I sprinted down the culdesak made a right and made a second right into my neighborhood. I was scared whether or not this man followed me to my house which was only a 3 minute walk away from the direction I was headed. I stayed up a short while once I made it to my house, making sure all doors and windows were locked, double checking everything. Thankfully I made it out safe but after that experience I never went out at night again but yet paranoid of one day walking into the same scenario again.
